About SE Drey & Company

Our home from 1959 to 2000.

Located in downtown Massachusetts Avenue of Indianapolis.

S. E. Drey & Company, Inc. was founded in 1959 by Sid Drey with the aim of providing casters and wheels locally to the food service industry. Just as the company was beginning to prosper, Sid learned of a terminal illness. For months he prepared extensive notes on the operation of the business, as he wanted his wife Jean to learn how to run the business. At the time of Sid's untimely death, Jean was a homemaker with three small children.

Jean raised her family and ran the company successfully for the next 30 years. Hundreds of businesses came to depend on the extensive inventory of casters and wheels over the years, even as the breadth of products grew to include all types of material handling equipment including shelving, carts, handtrucks, dollys, moving supplies, etc. The Company served Indiana 's largest manufacturers in virtually every industry and had the items needed daily by many small businesses as well.

We built and moved into our current facility loacted in the Historic Fort Harrison Industrial Zone in 2000.

Jean retired and sold the business in 1996 to the Curtis family who continue to operate from a more modern facility in a new business park at the former Ft. Benjamin Harrison. The business is more diversified today, and we still serve Indiana 's businesses with all the equipment and supplies they need. We still serve the original food service industry, but our markets now include virtually every type of business enterprise in nearly all market segments. Whatever you do, we have the equipment to help you do it easier, faster, and better. Let's talk about how we can address your special needs.
